Datathon: Evidence-based insights for EU youth policy

06.05.2026

In April, AUSSDA hosted its successful third Infra4NextGen Datathon.

Over three days of intensive collaboration, participants from all over Europe researched topics such as education opportunities, entry into the labour market and access to family services, and presented their findings in the form of policy briefs, posters and videos. You can find all the details, as well as the winners’ contributions, in this CESSDA article.

A key objective of the Infra4NextGen project is to establish a solid foundation for evidence-based decision-making in EU youth policy. We are delighted that the datathons are making a direct contribution to this: the Infra4NextGen team forwards the best policy briefs directly to researchers at the European Commission’s Joint Research Centres (JRC). One participating group even went a step further and submitted their policy brief directly to the European Parliament!

It is inspiring to see how the datathons are sparking ideas for long-term research projects. An excellent example gave two participants from the University of Łódź in Poland: they further developed their work from the second datathon (June 2025) on the topic of ‘Europeans and False Online Information’ and recently published the results as a journal article.
