SSÖ & ISSP
The Social Survey Austria consists of individual modules of the International Social Survey Programme (ISSP), a national branch with reference to Austria, and supplementary methodological studies. The ISSP is conducted in approximately 45 countries to examine the Austrian population's attitudes and value orientation over time, and in international comparison.
Linked research at four universities
A team of sociologists from the universities of Graz, Linz, Salzburg, and Vienna is responsible for the implementation of this large-scale research project. They co-design the surveys that have been carried out five times so far - in 1986, 1993, 2003, 2016 and 2018. The next data collection wave is planned for 2020. The surveys are carried out in cooperation with renowned Austrian survey institutes, and are based on representative samples of the Austrian residential population aged 18+.

Numbers, data, facts
The Austrian data is archived in our AUSSDA Dataverse, while the international data is stored at GESIS. All data is publicly available to interested researchers. For trend analyses, a cumulative dataset was created comprising the first four data collection waves (1986 to 2016).
